History
The development of the suburb or small town of Kraaifontein dates to the mid to late 1800's. Just like most of this part of the Western Cape it slowly developed around the farming industry. By the year 1876, a railway station was erected entitled Kraaifontein Junction. Only one year after the railway station was built the town started to develop. 1908 was the year that the first school came to the area. By 1948 the town had it's first Dutch Reform Church.

Climate 
The Northern suburbs experience winter rainfall and windy conditions, the warm summers are mild with temperatures between 25-30 degrees. Enjoy long summer nights with sunset being approximately around 8:00 pm.

Schools
There are no shortages of great schools to choose from. Some of the more well-known schools in and around Kraaifontein include Aristea Primary School, Fanie Theron Primary School, Cavalleria Primary School, Eben Donges High School, Meridian Pinehurst Independent School, Monument Park High School, Kraaifontein AME Primary, Scottsdene Secondary School, Simonsberg Primary School, Scottsville Primary School and Bernadino Heights Secondary School.

Medical 
The Northern suburbs offer some of the finest medical facilities. The Cape Gate Mediclinic being 5 minutes from Kraaifontein and is amongst the ten best Mediclinic Hospital sin South-Africa. 

Shopping Malls
Some of the more popular shopping experiences in the vicinity include the Kraaifontein Shopping Centre, Okavango Crossing Shopping Centre, Langeberg Centre, Brighton Square, Cape Gate Decor Centre, Cape Gate Shopping Centre, Stop and Shop Centre, Pinehurst Centre, Glengarry Shopping Centre, Bloch Centre and Coral White Centre.

What to do in the Northern suburbs
Bugz Playpark offers loads of fun for the kids, Wijnland auto museum showcasing yesterday heroes on wheels, Dyman Gallery and Bottelary horse riding. Picnic in the park, wine tasting on a wine farm or take a drive out and do some strawberry picking fun for the whole family
