History
Goodwood is a suburb of Cape Town in the Western Cape, South Africa and is situated in the Tygerberg region of the City of Cape Town. It is 10 kilometres from Cape Town and accessible from the N1, N7 and N2 highways.

The town was established in 1905 and named after Goodwood Racecourse in England as the founders intended to make it a racing centre. A course was constructed, but after only one meeting it was abandoned.

The first railway station was built in 1905, and today there are five within the municipal area: Goodwood, Vasco and Elsies River are all located on the Cape Town-Johannesburg main line.  Monte Vista and Acasia Park stations are on the secondary line between Cape Town and Bellville.

Climate 
The Northern suburbs experience winter rainfall and windy conditions, the warm summers are mild with temperatures between 25-30 degrees. Enjoy long summer nights with sunset being approximately around 8:00 pm.

There are numerous schools to choose from, whether you're looking for private schooling, facilities, government schools, home schooling. The Northern suburbs offers it all. From pre-school to matric, the Northern suburbs offers every type of educational curriculum. Koos Sadie Primary , Goodwood Park , JG Meiring High School , Fairbairn College and President High School.

Medical 
The Northern suburbs offer some of the finest medical facilities. Netcare N1 City hospital , N1 City Medical Chambers and Louis Leipold Mediclinic just 5.8 km away.

Shopping Malls
With N1 City mall, Goodwood mall, Glenwood Shopping Centre and N1 Value Centre just around the corner, all your shopping needs are taken care of. 

What to do in the Northern suburbs
Ice skating at Grant West Casino, lots of fun rides and lots more to do at Wonderland. Take a drive out to the beach or a nice walk through the Tygerberg Nature Reserve a stone's throw away.
